I like it better than the others
I liked it better than the scosche one, same plastic stuff as the other one but actually seemed to hold the stereo more securely. I'd buy metra again over any other brand now. The manual to me made perfect sense, although the page numbers are completely screwed up. It was like one page off, but you know I got the general idea of what they were getting at very easily. I've owned several of the scosche ones and pretty much hated every one of them

Required modification, and the speaker still didn't fit
Pros: It fit in the door panel as it should. That's about it for this item. My car is a 2007 Pontiac G6. Had some extra tabs around the outside edge that were unnecessary, I removed those with a dremel.Cons: Didn't fit my 6.5" speaker(Rockford Fosgate Prime http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B006ZL7X9Y/ref=oh_o00_s00_i00_details) at all straight out of the package, guess it's a little bit nonstandard perhaps. There are tabs all over the adapter for various speaker screw holes. All of the ones in the center made it so the speaker would not fit down in the adapter properly. A half hour of dremel'ing away at it(I was bound and determined to get my new speakers in my car that night, to hell with returning this) and the speaker would fit in the hole, but none of the screw holes lined up right. Eyeballing it I thought it would be okay, but I ended up having to put in the four super long screws that were included at an angle through the four slots in the corners. The slots actually...

I got this to install an after market radio to replace the OEM unit that stopped working in a 04 Suzuki Vitara. The finished install works and doesn't look too bad, there is a small gap between this and the factory trim ring where I anticipate dirt collecting, could put some black weather strip in the gap but it is not that big a deal. This kit is intended to work for several cars and their is no indication as to which part is intended for which car. I wasted a bit of time playing with the ISO style side brackets before I realized they aren't intended for this particular vehicle. It appears the metal DIN cage (included with the radio) is the intended mounting method. There is not enough space between the opening edge and the top of the storage compartment to bend back the DIN tabs (or "wings") to securely hold the bottom of the DIN cage in pace. I had to resort to thick 3-M double sided tape between the cage and the top of the storage compartment. Also, the tabs on a plastic spacer...

My head unit came with screws for mounting the side brackets of this kit, but the kit should have had them too. It didn't. That's the only issue. Fitment was easy and straight-forward. fits flush and looks great. Very pleased.

Fit well in my 2006 Chevy TrailBlazer
I used this kit to adapt a Clarion CX501 double DIN unit to my 2006 Chevy Trailblazer. The kit fit my Clarion very well - no extra adapters needed or holes to drill as there were plenty of holes that lined up on the side brackets. A little snug on the sides inserting it in the dash when using the correct screws, but it slid in eventually, and better to be snug than loose, right? The front wings fit nicely, even the stock support tabs on the dash that help the factory line up and insert the radio didn't interfere - sometimes you have to trim/clip/grind those off, but not in my case.It felt very secure and the front trim fit nicely and the radio looks great in my dash as a result.
