This is the second brake release I've purchased for my 2003 Tahoe. This first time the cable broke up near the handle. The second time the cable broke near the brake mechanism. The first time I used a GM part purchased from the dealer for almost $40. When it broke no more than 2 years later I decided to give the aftermarket a try. This is not an OEM part. Although it does seem to be better built. The image on this handle is slightly different but what does that matter. There was a single 10mm bolt holding it in place and took me less than 5 minutes to replace. This is well worth the money. Top to learn more

Worked like a charm on my 2003 GMC Yukon:

I've been off-roading for more than four decades. Bikes, buggies and now, a 4x4. Never really thought I needed a winch until I got the 4X4, but since my Trooper weighs in at around 4,500 pounds, I knew there was no way I could get out of a "sticky" situation without a winch. I run in sand at Hatteras, hills and woods at Wind Rock and make the occasional trip to CO to explore old mining trails and hunt for ghost towns. And I always travel alone. So, one of my first purchases for the Trooper was an ARB bullbar and a Warn M8000. That was in 2002. Oddly, since then, I haven't had a desperate need for a winch. Oh, there have been numerous times when I have had to clear a large branch or tree from the trail, but I've never been stuck, so I never had a chance to put the M8000 to the test.Then, this Spring, I had a 70', 18" diameter black pine break in a windstorm and fall into the lake near my boat dock where we live. Does what it says
This is the best basic winch you can get. Don't be fooled into buying any of the cheaper ones. Learn from my mistakes. It does what it says it does. Pulls four tons. Has paid for itself in my case with one emergency use. Had to pull and lift 2.5 tons which it did with ease. I would recommend having a snatch block and either a chain or heavy strap to give more options when needed. It is not always possible to get the truck with the winch in exactly the right spot. The snatch block allows for more choices.

Great product
I almost bought this from another retailer but decided to go with Amazon since their customer service is so good. I'm glad I did. The first winch didn't work. Amazon sent another winch overnight had UPS pick up the broken winch. I love Amazon.

Better than most cables
The ones I received were slightly different than the picture here but in a good way. They have a shrink-wrap covering over where the cable goes into the crimp-on metal connector. If you are buying these I'm assuming it is because your current set has rusted from the inside out and broken. I think this shrink-wrap will help prevent that problem. Top to learn more

Quick, Dirty, and Does Its Job Well.
Bought this cable for a 1994 GMC Sierra. It snapped on in about 1 minute. Has some flex to it so it isn't hard to work with. The last is strong so it won't slip out somehow. It ended up being a little shorter than the other used cable I still had on the tailgate. However, I am certain it is from stretch of the old cable and they were the same length originally.For the test, It was hooked up and me and another person stood on the tailgate. That was easily 600+ lbs. I would say it has been tested and passed!! Top to learn more

I've taken my truck to two different Chevy dealerships and they both cant tell me what is the type of emergency brake cable I need to get for my truck. My emergency brake cable is attached to the " T0P " portion of my rear drums. But the next set of cables that go ( apparently ) to the passenger side rear brake is no longer there.
