I found the author to be very entertaining and informative. The book was well researched and provided some interesting facts behind the scenes of how this ground-breaking vehicle was conceived, designed and produced.I would give the contents of the book five stars. However, the book cover leaves much to be desired. The photo and artwork are applied (glued?) to bare cardboard. The problem is that the edges of the book do what cardboard eventually does and that is fall apart. It makes a great book look and feel cheap.

Not Much To Say Except, IT WORKS!!!
Well, I don't know exactly why the passPORT won't work for the 1-star reviewer, BUT IT WORKED FOR ME! I got a Panasonic CQ-C7303U radio 2 years ago and then the iPod adapter for it over 1 year ago. At that time, I had the 5th gen iPod video, then after that crapped out on me, I got the 3rd gen. nano (8GB). Then I upgraded to the 4th gen. nano almost as soon as it came out, so I could have double the memory (16GB).Well, once I got the 4th gen. nano and plugged it into my radio, everything worked (it played/controlled through the radio), but I would get this message at the bottom of the nano's screen saying: "Charging is not supported for this accessory". (Or something like that.) And indeed the nano lost battery power much faster than it would listening to music through the headphones. (It makes since that more juice would be sucked up listening to music through the docking port.) Since I mostly listen to my nano in my truck (Panasonic radio), I depended on the radio...

If you have an iPhone 3G, an iPod touch 2G or a nano 4G, you need this.
When Apple introduced its latest batch of music players, it quietly removed the last remnant of FireWire compatibility it had been keeping in to maintain compatibility with older accessories: 12V charging support.Unfortunately, this means the new devices cannot charge on older "compatible" docks, and even on recent ones because some manufacturers have been ignoring Apple's warnings and have persisted on shipping 12V devices even after being told support for this voltage was likely to disappear from new models of iPods.Luckily, Scosche was able to come up with an inexpensive pass-through adapter which lowers the voltage and supplies 5V to the right pin, essentially restoring the charging capability of your old device with your new iPod.There is not much to be said about the device itself: you plug it between the dock and the iPod, and it works.I have been using mine for several weeks with my iPod touch 2G with three devices it couldn't charge...

Product Description

The Scosche passPORT USB charging adapter allows accessories that do not support USB charging to work with iPod and iPhone.

Firewire-to-USB Charging Pass-Through
If you have an older iPod interface in your car, battery backup system, or similar product, you might find that charging is not supported with your new iPod. The Scosche passPORT solves that problem with Firewire-to-USB charging capabilities, providing a 12V to 5V solution for iPod nano 4G, iPod touch 2G, and iPhone 3G.

Using passPORT is simple:

  1. Plug the dock connector into the female side of the passPORT.
  2. Plug the passPORT adapter into your iPod or iPhone.
  3. Select a song from your iPod or iPhone and begin enjoying your music while charging

Great for Vehicle iPod Accessories
The passPORT is perfect for older car integration accessories that don't support charging for the iPhone 3G and iPod models released in September 2008 or later. The passPORT is compatible with: several aftermarket head-units as well as Acura, Audi, Aston Martin, Bentley, BMW, Chevrolet, Chrysler, Dodge, Ferrari, Ford, Honda, Hummer, Hyundai, Infiniti, Jaguar, Jeep, Lexus, Lincoln, Mazda, Mercedes Benz, Mercury, Mini Cooper, Mitsubishi, Nissan, Pontiac, Porsche, Rolls Royce, Saab, Saturn, Scion, Suzuki, Toyota, Volvo, and VW. (Not compatible with select Pioneer head-units that use the CD-iB100 or CD-i200 iPod to IP-Bus adapter.)

Note: The passPORT is specifically designed to fix the charging error associated with several iPod and iPhone accessories. If the accessory you are intending to use does not initially support the audio or video functionality of the iPod or iPhone, the passPORT will not enable these features. Top to learn more

Great option for auxiliary input.
I bought this because I have an 04 Dodge Ram with a factory in-dash 6 disk changer. I wanted to keep the factory stereo because it works well and it has steering wheel controls. If I bought an aftermarket deck to have an aux in, I would have to spend an additional $200 to have the steering wheel controls wired in with it. After checking with a local audio store, they told me that this auxiliary input was a good model. They sold it for $100 and I found it here on Amazon for about $50. I bought it so that I could use my Droid to stream pandora music through my stereo. This kit feels like a quality unit. The cables and connectors feel firm and tight and the modulator feels solid as well. It comes with all the wires necessary to have an in-dash aux, or an I-pod connector that will charge the Ipod (or Iphone) I bought 2 RCA "Y"s so that I could plug BOTH cables in. I have the Ipod connector in my glove box (in case a passenger is with me and has an i-pod) and I...

Universal iPod Dock & 3.5mm Input for FM Radios Top to learn more

Does the job; Great flexibility!
This unit lets me connect my iPod to my factory stereo that does not have an available AUX input. It comes with a cable to connect AND CHARGE your iPod as well as another cable to connect a standard 3.5mm plug. However, you can only connect one cable or the other to the single set of RCA connectors on the unit itself. Choosing one or the other will probably be fine for most people. But I wanted the option of using BOTH the iPod connector and the universal 3.5mm port. I overcame this by connecting two short RCA Y-cables (splitters) between the FM transmitter box and each of the cables that go to the iPod connector and the 3.5mm port. The Y-cables are inexpensive and easy to simply plug in. By doing this, I can take advantage of the capability of the iPod connector to charge my iPod (a huge plus for me) and also allow people with non-iPod devices (basically, anything with a heaphone jack) to connect to my factory stereo. My only gripe is that since the sound is being...

good product, minimal quality loss
Good product, minimal quality loss. Ipod charging is a big plus. I helped my brother install a competitors product in his truck. He paid half what I did, and had similar sound quality, but no Ipod connects. Good product if no other Ipod connection options are available.

Works on my iPhone 4s
Good price, works great with my iPhone 4s as well as my older iPhone 3g.I did have to buy an extension cable since the plug is too big to fit in the phone if you have it in a case. Bear this in mind before you buy.

New IPOD, Old car stereo
I used my click wheel IPOD for 10 years and it is still hooked to my car stereo full time. I assumed that I would have to take the car to a stereo place and have it rewired for my new IPOD touch when the time came so I was thrilled to find that there was an adapter. This works just as it said it would and now I can charge my touch on trips and use it in place of the click wheel IPOD when it, as all things must, finally dies.

Works well, but beware of it's size
The adapter works well. The problem I have with it is size. It's very thick and it's impossible to connect to iPhone with a case that covers any part of the bottom of the phone. I had to take the case off to use it. I ended up buying a dock extension cable that fits very nicely and gives an ability to lift and move the phone. It solves the problem of iPod adapter being short on Infiniti G35.Also I wish that product descriptions had detailed size information so it's known in advance.

My 2 Cents
This is a system for those who want basic cd radio. I opted to return it only because I found one that offered more features also a Dual unit. This one plays limited recorded CD formats so make sure you read the product specs carefully. It has a very good bonus in that it has a POWER USB PORT on the face plate that can be used ONLY TO CHARGE a USB devise. The USB port WILL NOT PLAY A DEVICE but having the charger USB you can shop Walmart for an adaptor that has most of the connection charging type ends attacthed to it for about $20. I find DUAL offers many different units that can meet the users needs. Be sure to review them all and make the best choice. Delivery was fast and my return of the product was easy. The seller BUY.COM is kind enough to send an RMA via e-mail that is prepaid return UPS shipping reflecting their aim for full customer satisfaction. Got a full refund within 4 days of the seller receiving the unit back. Overall the unit is a very good deal for the basic...

If GM ever wants this car to truly be a decent seller they need to drop the price by about 10-15K. Fox said some Volt owners already have received new charge cord units from dealers as part of a " battery enhancement program " that GM implemented earlier this year in the wake of a NHTSA investigation into Volt battery fires. A number of other manufacturers are looking at the use of wireless charging systems, including Chevrolet, though they are expected to adopt the so-called Qi inductive charging system.   That’s in sharp contrast to the induction system used by most other wireless cellphone charging systems – a method also commonly used for cordless electric toothbrushes and razors where it can be a problem to leave exposed electrical connections. If you’ve ever tried to charge up your iPhone or MP3 player only to discover the wire is missing, Dodge has a neat solution it plans to introduce with the upcoming launch of the compact Dart sedan: a wireless charge pad.   But Dodge will be the first to offer a factory wireless charging system – with several other makers, such as Chevrolet, ready to follow.
