Imagine my surprise when I pulled up to work, put the truck into park, removed my seat-belt and when I went to open the door the handle snapped off? I paused for a second to wonder why had this door handle come off in my hand? Could it be that my wishes came true and I am now as strong as Superman? Upon further inspection I realized that it had been cracked and just gave way, so no superman here! I was still kind of confused, how was I to get out without having to climb over to the passenger side? Great Replacement
I have installed the $60 dealership replacements, and the $25 parts store replacements on work trucks, and this one on my own truck. I can tell you they are all the same at least in quality and fit, and last the same amount of time. Normally, you get what you pay for, but these things are only $8 parts no matter how much you pay for them, so why pay more?It fit perfect and my door works perfect again. Will buy again...for the passenger door next.

Dorman saved me from Chevy
$400 to replace the entire door Panel! Really!! Chevy, instead of correcting a poorly designed door handle sees it as an opportunity to rip off the public. While researching a solution to my problem, I ran across hundreds of horror stories about people having to replace all 4 door panels with the same faulty door handles. At $77 dollars, this handle is not cheap, but it's not $400. Went in relatively easy. Take you time removing the door panel. The Dorman website has a video that shows you all you need.

Moderately priced solution for a MAJOR design flaw
I have been driving around a 2007 HHR for with broken door handles on both front doors for more than a year now. The reason for this is that Chevrolet tells you that you can not simply buy the piece (Interior Door Handle) separately, but must by the entire interior door panel. When I first priced this it was $320. The price has since gone up to $350 and another review stated $400!If you are a fix it yourself person this repair isn't that bad of a project. The hardest part is making sure you don't break the plastic snap in clips holding the interior door panel. They do not include instructions on how to remove the door panel either, so do your research. Plenty of free sites with pictures can be found with a simple google search.This would be a five star review, but the screws/glue you use for the replacement are where I deduct points. The kit comes with a drill bit to strip the plastic melted "pop rivets" holding the old handle in place. You need to make...

Nice replacement kit
Did some research on the door handle (plastic elbow? Really?), found this replacement kit. Disclaimer: I am *not* a car guy, but reasonably mechanically-minded. The replacement is not trivial to do (a little drilling down of some plastic struts), but not rocket science, either. All the necessary parts included, even the drill bit.Instructions were a little sparse, but once you do it you realize that's all that was needed. Just take your time and read through, don't try to over-think this one.Yes, you are putting another plastic part in for the door handle, but that's all the manufacturer supplies. Hopefully I won't have to do this again, but if I do, I know where to get the part! I asked at a local auto supply store, and they sell the kit but were out of stock, and were dubious I could find it anywhere. Of course, Amazon comes through with a great supplier who had it in stock.
